• The crucial workplace challenges for leaders across the not-for-profit sector
• What employees and volunteers need to feel valued and included – to stay engaged, motivated and, above all, well
• How to prioritise diversity and inclusion
• And what else can be done to change the workplace for the better
The discussion will be shaped by three leading thinkers and practitioners sharing their insights and practical experience, with structured opportunities for participants to get involved. Ruth Cane, Foundation Manager, will be hosting the event.

Speakers:
Professor Emma Parry will set the scene for the discussion, sharing her thoughts and insights on the key issues. Head of the Changing World of Work Group at Cranfield School of Management, Professor Parry is a recognised expert in Human Resource Management (HRM) and plays a leading role in several global research projects in this area. Her expertise focuses specifically on the impact of the changing external context, such as technological advancement, changing demographics and workforce attitudes on managing people.
She is a Fellow of the British Academy of Management, an Academic Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute for Employment Studies (IES). She is the author or editor of eight books and has written numerous papers in academic and practice-based publications.
Amie Buhari is Chief Executive and Founder of The Hebe Foundation, which she set up in 2007 after feeling for years the need to provide young people with activities that work towards developing their gifts and improving their lives in some way.
Amie has over 28 years of Youth Work and Management experience from across the arts, environment, housing and faith sectors. Amie specialises in identifying gifts, and diversity & Inclusion. In 2016 Amie won the Wise Women in Leadership Award, and a 2017 Point of Light Award with letter of recognition from Prime Minister Theresa May.
Jules Hillier is the Chief Executive of Pause, a national charity that works with women whose children have been removed from care and helps them to make positive changes in their lives. Pause also works to influence policy and practice across the sector and beyond.
Jules has spent most of her career working with charities focusing on young people, health and education. Prior to joining Pause, she was Deputy Chief Executive and Interim Chief Executive with Brook, a young peoples’ sexual charity. Her experience extends across a range of organisations and she is a trustee with another small charity. Jules is passionate about doing things differently and working to support people become healthier and happier.
This event is part of the Foundation’s Future of Work series aimed at helping the social sector be a great place to work and is free of charge for leaders and HR professionals working in the sector.
