Join us on Friday 30th October (12pm–1.30pm) to hear from Catherine Tollington, Interim Executive Director with the pioneering charity Bromley by Bow Centre, and Alice Everett, Wellbeing and Development Manager at the Centre. The Centre is renowned for its innovative approach to creating healthy, vibrant communities, including a neighbourhood hub, a medical practice, and a community research project.

In a June 2020 survey by Mind, 59% of people said that their mental health had suffered during lockdown, and Office for National Statistics figures suggest that almost one in five adults are currently likely to be experiencing some form of depression (compared to around one in ten before the pandemic).
However, one positive development is a greater awareness of the issue, leading to conversations about mental health in the workplace that would rarely have happened just a few months ago.
Catherine and Alice will be sharing their insights and experience of supporting employees and volunteers during these extremely difficult times as they have rapidly transformed their community services and health provision to reach people experiencing some of the worst long-term effects of the virus.
The Eastside Primetimers Foundation is committed to making the social sector (charities, social enterprises and other not-for-profits) a great place to work and to helping experienced, passionate people make their own career move into the sector. Clearly creating work cultures which are compassionate and understanding about these issues is critical to this mission.
Catherine Tollington is also a non-executive Director of the Eastside Primetimers Foundation and an Eastside Primetimers consultant with over fifteen years’ experience in the voluntary sector, supporting a wide range of clients from small start-up enterprises to large established charities. Her career has spanned the private and public sectors, including with the Royal Mail, where she was working at a senior level in operational management, business and product development, franchising and stakeholder relations. For four years she worked with Accenture UK to deliver its Development and Support programme for over 300 Healthy Living Centres. She has an MA in social enterprise management, is an experienced trustee and non-executive director, and is a trustee of the City and East London Bereavement Service.
Alice Everett has many years’ experience of working both within the NHS and the Charity Sector with people facing difficult issues and events which impact upon their mental health and wellbeing. This includes working with people experiencing anxiety, depression, brain injury, loss, relational issues, long-term conditions, phobias and stress.
Alice combines her work at the Bromley by Bow Centre with her own private practice as an Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist. Her qualifications include PGDip Counselling & Psychotherapy, MSc Cognitive Neuropsychology, BSc (Hons) Applied Psychology and a Certificate in Coaching.
